AI calling for insurance agencies

Make calls your agency means to. Your licensed producers write the policy.

When someone asks your agency for a quote, a Bearworks voice agent places the first call, confirms what they need quoted and when their policy renews, and books a time with a licensed producer.

  1. Jordan

    Hello?

  2. AI assistant

    Hi, is this Jordan?

  3. Jordan

    Yeah, this is Jordan.

  4. AI assistant

Hi Jordan, this is the AI assistant for Larkspur Insurance, calling about the quote you requested on our website. This call may be recorded. Do you have a couple of minutes?

  5. Jordan

Oh, yeah. Yeah, sure. I just filled that out, like, a few minutes ago.

  6. AI assistant

Great, thanks. I have a few quick questions so the right person can prepare your quote. It looks like you asked about auto and home. Is that right?

  7. Jordan

Yep, both. Two cars and the house.

  8. AI assistant

Got it. Who are you insured with today?

  9. Jordan

Cedar Mutual. Both policies renew in March. I think the third?

  10. AI assistant

March third, perfect. And before I pass this along, is there anything you'd like your producer to—

  11. Jordan

So what's it gonna cost me?

  12. AI assistant

That's a question for a licensed agent. I can't quote prices myself, but Nora can put together an accurate number. Can she call you tomorrow evening?

  13. Jordan

Yeah, evenings are better. Maybe after six-thirty?

  14. AI assistant

Six-thirty tomorrow. I'll pass along your auto and home details, your carrier, and your March renewal, so you won't have to repeat any of it.

  15. Jordan

    Perfect, thanks.

  16. AI assistant

Thanks, Jordan. Have a good night.

  • The whole conversation

Each call comes back with its transcript and outcome, so your producer knows what the prospect said before calling back.

  • A short intake summary

The lines they want quoted, current carrier, renewal date, and the best time to talk. Basic facts, never a quote.

  • A clear next step

Every call ends in an outcome: reached, callback requested, not reached, or opted out. Your team decides what happens next.

Where the agent stops.

Prospects ask about price early. The agent recognizes the question and hands it to a person who is licensed to answer it.

  • Does not quote premiums
  • Does not recommend coverage or carriers
  • Does not bind or change a policy
  • Does not say whether a claim is covered

State licensing rules vary, and they generally reserve quoting and coverage advice for licensed producers.

A conversation, not a phone tree.

The agent listens and responds in turn instead of reading menu options, so people can answer in their own words.

  • Lets callers cut in

When someone interrupts, the agent stops and responds.

  • Stays on your script

The call flow is written with your team, and anything outside it goes to a person.

  • Hands off to a person

If someone asks for their own agent, the request is routed: a callback, a booked time, or a transfer.

What agencies ask us.

Every agency’s lead sources and consent records are different.

Can an AI voice agent call insurance leads?

Yes, when the person has asked to be contacted. Bearworks places the outbound call, confirms what they want quoted and when their current policy renews, and books them with a licensed producer. The lead source, consent records, and calling rules are defined for each deployment.

Can the agent quote insurance premiums?

No. Quotes, coverage recommendations, and binding stay with your licensed producers. When someone asks about price, the agent offers a time with a producer or a callback.

Does the agent need an insurance license?

The agent is limited to work that state rules generally allow unlicensed agency staff to do: gathering factual information, scheduling, and passing requests to a licensed producer. States differ, so we review the call script with your counsel for each state you call into.

Is it legal to use an AI voice to call insurance leads?

AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA (see the FCC’s 2024 ruling), so calls generally need the person’s prior express consent, and marketing calls need prior express written consent. Calling hours, opt-outs, state telemarketing laws, and call-recording consent also apply. Review your consent language and calling program with counsel; we build the pilot around what they approve.

Will it replace our CSRs or producers?

No. It makes the follow-up and reminder calls your team doesn’t get to, and hands them a summary. Quotes, advice, and claims conversations stay with your people.

Does it work with our agency management system?

A pilot starts with a simple path: a form or webhook triggers the call, and the summary comes back by email or into your CRM. Tell us which system you use and we’ll show you the connection we can test.

Do you work with Medicare or health insurance agencies?

Not at this time. We’re focused on property and casualty agencies, starting with personal lines.
